Hello people,

So I received last Thursday a FedEx receipt for an item I got 2 months ago saying I had to pay 40$ of import fees.
Usually, I pay import fees as I get the item by the delivery man or when I go to the office to get my package.
However, this particular package my mom received because she was home and I wasn't. The delivery man didn't speak of no extra fees, I didn't get a phone call about the fees I had to pay nor an email.

So, I write to FedEx saying I wouldn't pay these fees 2 months later because the delivery man forgot to charge them and I get a reply saying it is impossible for FedEx to charge the fees at the delivery since it must get through agents and bla bla bla which is bs since I always pay those fees upfront. I would believe the law obliges them to keep packages which import fees have yet to be decided right?

So that's the kind of reply I returned. Saying that they made a mistake and that they got to own up to it.

Also, my mother is a secretary/bookkeeper to a transport company in my town and confirms my beliefs. She also tells me her company stopped working with my town's division of FedEx because they mess up everything.

I was wondering if anyone else experienced this kind of problem and if anyone else knew more about my rights or duties in this situation?

Thanks a lot!

PS: I would never order through FedEx, however I think KotoUS only uses FedEx which is absolutely sad.

MC7075年前#15306033Some lucky fellas here. I ordered something off Germany (not a figure) through CrapEx a few years ago and I got letter after letter asking for $20 of import fees. They sent a "final" letter, then they sold their liability to collections, who as everyone knows is relentless in scamming you off your money. I'm surprised they didn't do the same with you $40+ peeps

Damn... I sure don't want that.

FedEx wrote back saying they are allowed to ask for a temporary clearance and then they have 31 days to send the real invoice.
So since it's been 2 months for me, I tried to play on that so... we'll see where it goes.

I got a fee letter about 2 months after the item was delivered for £45 (from TNT for Godoka). I ignored it and they never chased it up.

I've experienced the same thing, but it's with DHL.

I used DHL a few years ago when they helped me deliver several packages at my door and they never asked me to pay anything. But after 2 months or so, I suddenly received like 8 letter mails within that year time-span, saying I owe a bunch of $40 import fees for the packages they delivered to me. I ignored all the mails and they never got any of my money. It's been 2 years since I last used DHL and I don't plan on using DHL ever again because of that incidence.

Its their fault and if they try to be sneaky and charge your card (they do) call your bank asap. Honestly I never use any company that uses FedEx cause they're a cruddy company to say the least. But just wait it out, if its the delivery man's fault then you can't worry about it. Especially since its coming 2 months later.

I would just wait it out. Chances are they won't allocate someone to chase you down just to get that puny amount of money from you since it would cost them too much to put in that effort.

ipwnboyz5年前#15292190I did once received a letter telling me to pay 80$ of import fees for ITEM #212896 6 months after it was delivered lol. It was handled by TNT. I didn't pay those fees and never will. If they don't charge me at the door then it's their problem.
Asking to pay late fees when you already own the item just seems like scam to me. They stopped pestering me after 2 letters and nothing was ever done to strip that money out of my pockets, so yeah, don't get caught in this.

Thanks! It's reassuring hearing that!

EDIT: That Renji is AMAZING~
