question about box damagequestion about box damage

migurmigur12日前Ask MFC
hey all, i'm not sure whether this is the right place to ask, but i don't know where i can ask this... ^^'

today i recieved: ITEM #144427

only the box of the item itself had some damage, the plastic on the top was cut through. the outer box had no damage.

I ordered it at the nippon-yasan and i let it ship with DPD (transit company)

Who do i have to contact, if any about this damaged box? DPD, nippon-yasan or the goodsmile.

__________
edit, thank you all for the replies, i contacted the good smile to see whether they can do something for me. if not case closed i guess.

answer from the gsc: they couldnt help this issue, i tried, so i guess we have to live with it. -> topic closed

You don't contact anybody for the item box damage. If the item which is housed inside the box is undamaged, then your good. Manufacturer, retailer nor postal service company ain't gonna do anything for box damage. This is how it works and is common knowledge.

Sorry to say this, folks said you to contact Manufacturer for box damage. Thats misguided.

I don't think you can get help, the box is considered as a protection of the most important, the figure so they won't help you about the box, they will consider the box has done their job.
My friend tried once because he received his package wet and the box was really messy, good smile said they can't do anything about it as it's a box and as long as the figure is fine they won't provide replacement.

Many people I know had problems with the boxes as well, and nippon yasan told them that there will be no replacement since the box only functions as a protection for the figure. I dont know whether gsc would replace the box...

You could always try to find someone with a not damaged box in your country and try to swap with them ? Some people do not care about the boxes. Also its not like you are the only collector in Netherlands and the country itself is also not that big. Would save you a lot of hassle ?

I ordered ITEM #396841 which has a very elaborate box worthy of displaying. I feared this same predicament so i contacted amiami for extra service/packing and found the best they could do is EMS full insurance. She arrived flawlessly, thank god. Years ago hobbysearch offered extra safety packing for a fee. Do they still offer this service? This might help those more willing to pay for it.

Agree with what's said below, it won't get you anything if you contact GSC. They even mention it on their website:

- Regarding Damaged Packaging
As packaging is designed for the sole purpose of protecting the product, we refuse all claims regarding damaged packaging.

GSC would not replace your item for the box usually. They will be happy to replace any damage part of the figure, but I do not believe they can do anything since the product is not damaged. Additionally, you ordered from Nippon Yassan, which is not an official partner of Good Smile Company. You can try to contact GSC, but your chances of getting a box replacement is slim to none. It doesn't hurt to try though :P

Okeno (12日前) #31101622Don't waste your time with nippon-yasan. They will not help directly at all. You can see some recent posts about that.
It's probably not much help contacting the transit company (DPD). I'm not familiar with them specifically, but normally it is the sender that must file the insurance claim, not the recipient. You might try and ask Nippon Yasan to file an insurance claim (assuming you used a method with some insurance) but I'm skeptical whether they will follow through.
If you don't mind getting banned by Nippon Yasan, you could file a PayPal dispute. But they will ban you immediately.
Really the only realistic option is GSC. I doubt they will do much for a box only unless the damage is severe. I had the exact same experience as GSC - I ordered three figmas from GSC directly and two of the boxes were smashed up badly (their packaging used to suck) and they sent me replacements of those two. You'll have to send lots of pictures probably to show how bad it is and try and ask for just the box if that's all that matters...
thanks i contacted the gsc, see what they can do
