Hatsune Miku - Taito Station collaboration figure review!Hatsune Miku - Taito Station collaboration figure review!Review

I'm not usually one to buy Miku figures because despite her cuteness she just simply has too many, and besides my favourite Vocaloid is Gumi... but that's beside the point. Every so often a Miku with a unique outfit or theme will catch my eye and that's what happened with this one. Miku in a Taito Station arcade uniform! Such a cool theme, I love everyday uniform figures and even seeing the logo brings back fond memories of being in Japan and seeing these arcades quite frequently.
So I bought her and I wanted to do a little review considering she is kinda recent/unknown :D This one is a prize figure by (surprise) Taito.

Here's a video showcase of Miku!

I highly recommend watching it for a close up on some details I didn't manage to fit into this review and to see her from a larger range of angles.

Now I'll start the text + pictures review with a picture of her box!

This is a really bright, colourful and eyecatching box. I'm not familiar with the artist but I LOVE the cute artstyle of the matching artwork on the box, it's really adorable. It has the usual shots of the figure on the box aswell as the Taito Station logo.

When you take her out of the box, she is in separate pieces padded individually by a LOT of bubblewrap.

Besides the odd prize figure I've had with a blister, this is probably the 2nd best way I've seen a prize figure packaged, there was a bit of overkill on bubblewrap but it helped to protect the figure. Definitely an improvement from the common method of putting a prize figure in a plastic bag with a cardboard insert.
The pieces are not too hard to put together but the twintails take quite a bit of force. I am weak though so assembling figures is generally a struggle for me... might not be so difficult for someone with average or more strength.

Extra close up on this very special part of the figure

To be honest, I'm not sure ENTIRELY what this is. It's definitely some kind of prize or award, I get the impression she is presenting it to someone at the arcade for winning? Is this based on a real thing? I'm not really sure.
Anyway the detail on it is really impressive, it has cute details like a little heart and streamers and inside the clear sphere is a 3d space invader-style piece just like the Taito Station logo. There are even star details!

Here are full shots of her!

She's just so cute and energetic! I think she is one of those figures that looks slightly different from different angles so I've included two, personally I think I prefer a slight side angle but both are cute. I love her pose, she looks like a very cheerful and friendly staff member.
I do like how the artist's style was transferred into this figure nicely, and I like that she has slightly thicker looking thighs than usual. I don't like figures that go too overboard in that aspect, everything has to be done in moderation but I love some wider hips/thighs on an otherwise petite figure and this Miku is somewhat hitting that sweet spot for me. I noticed it on the artwork so it was nice that they kept that true to the original art.
Another aspect that I LOVE is her detailed, twirling twintails! They are so dynamic and adorable.

A close up on her adorable face!

She is just so cute and cheerful, looking at her will really cheer you up. I really like the artist's style with her facial features, they are super adorable!

From behind you can see some motifs from the Taito Station uniform like the back of her shirt
https://s31.postimg.org/uayzt2ljf/DSCF3935.jpg
It is done really cleanly, there are no paint flaws and it looks super crisp. I love all of the detail that went into this figure even from the back!

Some more detail shots!

Her nametag and the text on it is SO tiny but there are no paint errors at all, it's really amazing actually. There are definitely a lot of areas where the paint could have gone wrong (stripes on her uniform, small text) but it all looks so clean. Not completely flawless but very impressive for a low budget figure. Even the tiny logo on the pouch she is wearing on her back, does anyone know what that is for? Looks like it has some kind of tickets in it.
To be honest I couldn't get all of the details up close because there are a LOT of details to note on this figure. Another favourite of mine is probably her shoes say "Miku" on the back, such a simple but cute touch! And the soles of her shoes are really well detailed. You can see close ups on the other small details in my video :D

In conclusion, I think she is really cute and great quality for an affordable prize figure. I would definitely recommend her to a Miku fan who is looking for something a little different to add to the collection! Or anyone who likes cute girls in uniforms :D

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed my review! Please do let me know if you enjoyed the review or liked the figure. I want to make more reviews and any support always helps to motivate me.

I own the winter clothes and natsufuku miku and theyre just as impressively detailed as what you described here. The taito station ver seems so impressive though.... Its pose is so cute and it's cool to come with an accessory! Great review!
I agree! I really like the other ones too but this one just stood out to me, I love the accessory :D And thank you!

SureFigures2年前#31778054I have been tempted by this figure as I also really love the theme. The only reason I didn't get her is that I know myself too well: If I get this Miku, I will get the matching Sonico ITEM #207631 then eventually will start hunting for some of the Lucky Star ones especially ITEM #42780 & ITEM #27557 and so on. I'm low on space so trying to keep my compulsiveness in check lol
Anyway, that was a great review; including that short video was super helpful. Thanks for sharing!

Oh wow, I hadn't seen those Lucky Star ones before and they are adorable! I imagine possibly hard to track down due to their age though but I'd really like to own them. Thanks and I'm glad that you enjoyed it! :D

victorviper2年前#31776217I see this figure on AmiAmi all the time and I've thought about getting it a few times.
The retro game theme with the Space Invader is a neat touch, but it seems like her head-to-body ratio is quite extreme, even by anime standards. Maybe it's just that huge whatever-it-is she's holding draws attention to her head and face and that's messing with me...
In any event, nice review!

I wouldn't say the head-to-body ratio is particularly off for anime standards, especially considering like I said they made her body a bit "thicker" than your typical Miku. But those twintails... yeah, they are huge and they do take up a lot of space.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :D

Jaz2年前#31775245Edit: Didn't read a part of the sentence and saw you mentioned the little Space Invaders thing. My bad lol.
I swear, these prize figures are looking better then any PVC scale figure out there! It's ridiculous! Makes me want them all! ♥

I know, right? Prize figures are continuously winning me over, there is just so much variety and the quality gets better and better.
