My Valentine's Day gift to you: A review of one of my Valentine Girls ^ ^

Elphelt Valentine is a character from the fighting game franchise Guilty Gear, introduced in Xrd -SIGN-. She's quite popular in the fanbase for two main reasons: She has a gun, the one item every fighting game character wishes for access to, and her upbeat personality. Also, a bit of trivia for you: every character in Guilty Gear has a heavy metal or rock reference somewhere in their designs. If you think long and hard about it, you might be able to figure out El's.

Anyone who knows me knows I adore the Valentines, especially El and her sister Ramlethal, and I was ecstatic when I learned this version of her was going to be getting a rerun. Maybe this is a lowkey way of saying she's going to be coming back for Strive? Only time will tell.

As for today, however, I will walk you through every detail about her to help you decide if she's one you want in the ranks of your collection. Hopefully by the end of this, her Magnum Wedding will have shot you right in the heart like she did me, keeping her by your side till death do you part (or perhaps till lack of space or debt; life happens).

Since I bought ITEM #548707 prior to this ones re-release, which is basically the same except blue and yellow, I'll refer back to that one in this article a few times. I don't really think my photos would turn out the best, though, so you'll have to take my word for it.

First up, box!

The light pink combined with the rust red gears along the side are a nice contrast. It also showcases all the angles and details of her on the back, as well as the sculptors, Chilmiru and Noa. The roses in the background on the left side are a nice aesthetic touch.

But I'm sure the box is not what you're here for. Let's move on to El herself.

Glimpse of the goods underneath next cut ;)

In -SIGN- and -REVELATOR-, all the characters had some kind of quote that could mean everything or nothing on their clothing and/or weapons. And honestly, the painting is my favorite part of these figures. Noa did an amazing job getting the writing and tiny details just right. Just look at them:

Now I'm just thinking about ITEM #198554 and what could've been T_T

The writing "You Could Be Mine" and "Till Death Do Us Part" respectively fit her hopeless romantic personality to a T. Though I noticed after I took these photos, if you look closely, you can see minor imperfections in the paint. Every figure is painted by hand, of course, and humans are prone to making mistakes, especially with writing that small.

I didn't take a picture of the base for this one, but I do have the one from ITEM #548707, which is the same thing pretty much.

The base is really nothing to write home about. It's just white plastic with pegs for her feet. You could probably argue that they're a little over sized , but with a hoop skirt like that, you kind of need something like that.

If I had to name one thing I really like about this figure: The rings on the belt move! I tired to make a gif of it to show, but my phone wouldn't allow it for some reason, but that was a nice touch I really enjoyed. More of a design thing, but the roses, spikes, and pretty pink palette are a nice middle ground between "Sweet, Innocent Maiden Dressed for the Happiest Day of Her Life" and "Will Mess You Up Beyond Repair (With Love)".

Another small detail that was nice that I didn't mention earlier was the little clover charm on her gun. Chilmiru's sculpting was impressive. They did an impressive job capturing this pose and the essence of her character down to the smallest.

Another Front shot.

All in all, she's a lovely one to own especially if you're a Guilty Gear fan. But on that note, if you're not a fan of the girls (and by girls, I mean mostly the Valentines), you're kind of out of luck. All we really have for the guys are ITEM #198530 and ITEM #234777, and those are currently on the aftermarket. It could just also be the version I got, but the paint is a little off, but that's on the smaller details which are difficult to get just right, so I can overlook it. If you like cute girls, fighting games, or both, she's definitely one to pick up.

With how high her price can go on the aftermarket, I'm glad I got a second chance to add her to my collection.

IronRose7ヶ月前#75727627Your username is the surname of one of the characters (Jam, in this case), actually

Lolol, I didn't even know that. What are the odds I would comment on a GG character and my name is the surname of another GG character?

Cloudberry7ヶ月前#75686547Hopeless Romantic? That's very adorable IMO <3
While I'm not too familar with GG series (I just know its a fighting game that gave birth to BlazBlue), Valentine's design is neat and I love the way you describe her outfit as if she's ready for that big day on the altar but will kick your ass if you ghost her XD.
I do dig her bunny ears that almost looks like a veil; I find it pretty cute~
Thanks for the review for Valentine!

galablue7ヶ月前#75638793Super cute! Make sure you link the item so that this review will show up on her official MFC entry for others to find.
I really like her face and how they did her eyes. I'm glad the small details turned out well.

How do you link it?

And the eyes are very well done. I just noticed how pretty they are.
