there are no words / question about union creativethere are no words / question about union creative

well, i saw ITEM #901543 pop up in my email ... and i have no words. speechless. hanekawa ... with braids ... and neko hanekawa ... holding each other ... ah, lord, i am in love. i literally have no words right now for this figure.

only problem is, don't really know anything about union creative. i believe i have heard mixed things about the company. does anyone here own any figures by them? can you maybe tell me about the quality of them? i don't want to shell out 200+USD for a figure that would be so/so quality, but in my opinion this figure is the best hanekawa figure i have ever laid my eyes on.

EDIT: Also, I am not really familiar with the materials used for this figure? They seem to be different from the typical ABS/PVC figure material I typically see. Any insight on this as well?

UC has some interesting designs and character choices, but I think they're lower tier. I have their Detective Conan figures and I honestly thought they were prize figures at first. The designs alone sometimes can surpass the lack of quality though like their Halloween Miku. They're not as bad as Freeing's 1/8 males who are both poorly painted and boring.

But being lower tier isn't always so bad. I have some Di Molto Bene Jojo figures and I can definitely see the lack of effort, but it's good enough for having a scale of a character I want.

Thanks so much Victor, I'm going to take a look at your blogs to see some more quality. Also your pictures are always very insightful because you have a great eye for flaws. I think it'll be helpful to see how different it looks from the product shot.

Thanks everyone for your insights! It seems like Union Creative is really a mixed bag ... eek! I'm worried about purchasing an expensive figure from them, but the aftermarket is also a gamble. Maybe I'm better off waiting...

Eccmy (2日前) #76955309My only regret with her, is that I could have gotten her for a lower price if I didn't preorder her, since she hit the bargain bin two months after her initial release. But she wasn't pricey to begin with, so I'll let it slide.

Yeah, good point. I am worried if I let this go and don't pre-order it it'll raise in value since it's literally a perfect Hanekawa posing ... but honestly it could also bargain bin and I could be left wishing I didn't spend around 250USD on it.

I think UC shines in the posing and design category, but just lacks in execution ... I am wishing they had high quality so I could be sure of a purchase!

UC is a mixed bag. I generally wait the figures to be released and judge based on users' pictures before buying. So far, I've been quite pleased by the ones I purchased. When they succeed, they make beautiful products. This one was particularly well done: ITEM #604871

I have purchased my first UC figure recently ITEM #806302, I have ordered a second one ITEM #872735 and I have a few other promising ones in my wish list. I was pretty worried before to receive her because I read negative comments about UC and some owners of this figure had missing parts... but I was so glad when I finally received her. She was perfect! So I would say that the best asset of UC is to create figures that arouse emotion, and to offer different things (choices of characters and poses). Next to that, the risk is to have a few QC flaws.

Taralen (2日前) #76955260 Their quality control is average and sometimes mediocre. They have good ideas for sculpts, but their price tags often don't match what you're gonna get.About what I would say.
Ive owned ITEM #261527 for a while now. I love her a lot but she has the ugly triangle base. I like the sculpt though, especially her hands. So often the hands can be so bland and blocky on a figure but I think her's came out really nice; its small details like that that make me appreciate her. It also helps I got her during a sale.
However more recently I got ITEM #740453 and ITEM #740451. I love how the former came out and the latter has some more QC issues, and they're from the same series and came out at the same time. I still like them both though and because of them I have a new appreciation for sitting figures. It helped that I dressed them up with decorations in my detolfs.
Since the Hanekawa figure is a sitting one from UC, I'm thinking it likely won't have a base just fyi. Overall it comes down to how much you are willing to spend though. Just be aware UC's quality can go either way, so it might not be good to have super high expectations. However I'll admit I was intrigued when I first saw prototype photos of this figure.

High variance in quality of the finished products to be sure, but they've got some interesting designs. I own the following UC figures:

Meiko Shiraki ITEM #285894
Neat pose and huge scale, but very spotty overall quality. Reviewed here BLOG #30143.

Reika Shimohira ITEM #463088
One of the most eye-catching figures I own with the black bodysuit. Main issue was realizing the more "realistic" face designs from Gantz:O into 3D. Reviewed here BLOG #32708.

"Darkness" Mikan Yuuki and Tearju Lunatique ITEM #676193 and ITEM #781911. The overall reception on their line of To Love Ru Darkness figures has been positive. Mikan was reviewed here BLOG #41821.

I only have one figure from Union Creative, butt (pun intended) I love her to bits: ITEM #806297

It's a pretty well-made figure with no obvious flaw that I can notice. And classic sailor fuku + tights + nice rear = win.
My only regret with her, is that I could have gotten her for a lower price if I didn't preorder her, since she hit the bargain bin two months after her initial release. But she wasn't pricey to begin with, so I'll let it slide.

Owned a few then I got rid of them. Their quality control is average and sometimes mediocre. They have good ideas for sculpts, but their price tags often don't match what you're gonna get.
My sister still has a few and I think they look downright awful personally (I see them every time I visit her).
They have really boring bases too (usually a black triangle or something.. just looks tacky and strange).
I noticed they also like to snatch up IPs not many other companies have, making them the only option for figure merchandise depending the series. At the very least, they're not as awful as FOTS/B'Full/Insight/etc. Literally nothing tops that company in a scale of awfulness.

I have this figure by them and it's a really nice figure. Good paint only very minor flaws if being picky but overall a good job - ITEM #198678

But then I got this figure from them beginning of this year - ITEM #872740 More like a prize figure quality wise, paint inconsistent and hair very thin in parts could easily snap. I still like the figure because I love the design/character and it's by no means a terrible or bad figure it just wasn't worth the price tag.
