Hello again fellow figure collectors!

Today as I continue to make my way through reviewing all my scale figures, I'm having a look at ITEM #144414, a 1/8 scale Hatsune Miku from the Good Smile Racing line of figures.

A while back when shopping for myself for a birthday present I had a thought: "Hey I'm a figure collector, I should get a Miku figure", I almost feel like owning a Miku figure is a right of passage as a figure collector since there are SOOO many of them and most collectors (that I know at least) seem to have at least one Miku. And so I embarked on a journey to find my favorite Miku figure... Needless to say it took a while and there are many great looking ones out there, but when I first laid eyes on this one I was mesmerized and was pretty sure she would be the one.

I love the pose on this one, and for a scale figure she was relatively cheap (got her for about 7600Y on AmiAmi).

A quick 360 in the spoiler

For me this figure is the closest I'll ever come to buying a figure that I'm not an avid fan of the character. Not to say I don't like Hatsune Miku because I do, and even enjoy listening to a few of her songs, but I definitely don't have the same amount of attachment to her character as I do for any of my other scale figures.

Such a pretty face on this one, and I love the little crown on her head. I can really picture her in this pose in a spotlight on stage.

I think what really captivated me with this particular Miku figure was the outfit. The translucent skirt of shards is very cool, and the pure white outfit being so well fit to her slim physique that you can see her belly button looks fantastic. My only slight complaint would be that in the prototype pictures there appears to be more separation between her tie and body (the tie appears to be blowing around more aggressively) and I think that would have looked better since the tie blocks the view of the outfit a bit.

The legs are another great feature of this figure, she's leaning way back on her outstretched leg but even so the figure is actually quite stable.

I think I'm probably going to end up saying this in most of my reviews... but I absolutely love long hair in dynamic movement and her twin tails are a great example of this. There's even a bit of translucence towards the tips which is a nice touch. The hair actually makes her fill space and have a bit more presence since she's a smaller figure.

The only other somewhat negative comment I would have about this figure is that she is quite small, even for a 1/8 scale. Compared to ITEM #178922 which is also a 1/8 scale she looks small.

And when you compare her to a 1/7 scale such as ITEM #198363, she looks quite tiny.

Overall I am very pleased with this figure, she is absolutely beautiful and I'm happy to have my one Miku figure in my collection. Although she is a little small, I just make sure not to place her beside any figure that dwarfs her and I don't even notice.

*BONUS* My amateur attempt at editing a nice photo of her

Thanks for reading! And as always, feel free to let me know what you think!

Congrats on having your first Hatsune Miku figure. I didn't realize how popular Miku figures were untill I joined this website.

Miku has so many different artistic interpretation that there will be a figure that someone will be happy with.

And that last photo for the racing Miku looks great!

dtindcarea1年前#78764356Congrats on getting a Miku figure and good review! I like the way they did her face. Most of the Miku racing figures are well done and good quality. I considered getting the version you reviewed but I ended up getting a similar older one that I was completely satisfied with and only paid $52 (new including shipping) last year. This one is also larger (takes up lots of space) but the base allows me to showcase my Miku racing car with her. Oh yes I really like that one too, wow it does look quite big! You're right most of the racing mikus are quite nice.

CactusCalin1年前#78730541Your review was great and very pleasant to read! I also really like her pose and I agree on the "ritual" part of owning a Miku (I can't wait to get mine).
The only part that would scare me about that figure is the leaning haha.

Thanks! I wouldn’t worry at all about the leaning, the figure is quite lightweight and there’s a metal rod holding her up so it’s quite stable despite appearances

CactusCalin1年前#78762151Oh really, thank you for teaching me that. I didnt know that they could mold plastic around a metal rod.
Do you think new manufacturer like Shine would be safe aswell? I preorder that item and my biggest fear was leaning. ITEM #886920

I am not familiar with them so I cannot say. They are new so you are right to be cautious.

indian_summer221年前#78762012Leaning is pretty rare nowadays. Even prize figures are made with metal rods inside to stabilize them which prevents warping etc. caused by heat. Older figures may lean, but with newer figures few do (and usually ones by newer or lower quality manufacturers). Established makers such as GSC are safe bets. They know what they are doing.
