Hello! I really love acrylic stands and I have three of them at the moment and have ordered lots more. The thing is I don't know how to take care of them exactly haha. So here are my questions:

How do you handle acrylic stands? Do you use gloves or tissue to hold it when assembling it and moving it?

How do you clean acrylic stands? Do you wipe them with tissue or with a microfiber cloth? Do you rinse them with water?

Does it need to be away from the sunlight? Will the sun make the color fade someday?

I personally use a facial tissue to handle them and gently wipe of the dust. This is because I really have no other option lol. I already bought a cleaner cloth (like for eyeglasses) and plan to use it.

Will it scratch the acrylic as I wipe off the dust?

Sometimes I just blow the dust away but of course I don't get all of them and I'm afraid of my saliva getting on them haha!

I actually saw an article about this but there were only three replies and one said to rinse it with drinking water or wipe it with Windex electronic wipes, but I'm not sure if we have those in my country haha. Thank you for reading this! :D

UIM_link2ヶ月前#80329096I dont really own any acrylic stands but i feel like just wiping them down with a microfiber cloth would do the trick. I dont really think they require much maintenance if any at all.

I see. Thank you!! I appreciate it :D

I checked your collection and you have a really cute and awesome one!! Thank you for your help! I appreciate it greatly :D
No problem.

I'm surprised. Every time I dust anything acrylic with a duster or makeup brush it gets dust through static. I even get the dust out of my duster and brush after I use them every time.

Wario542ヶ月前#80327748I guess I’m really lazy with them because I just set them somewhere and wipe them with a Swiffer duster occasionally haha. But I’ve had my oldest one for 5 years and it’s still fine.

Ohh that's really cool! That's the first I've heard of those. It looks neat haha. Woah that's a long time! Thank your for your advice. I appreciate it! :D

BmxAce2ヶ月前#80327431My acrylic stands have been doing alright with a quick bath in warm water and hand soap.

Ohh I see. Do you rub them while it is wet? How do you dry them? Thank you for your help. I appreciate it! :D

AskandTheAnswer2ヶ月前#80327309This might just be something i do, but i use touch screen cleaning clothes they are non-alcohol based so should not effect the decals. Keep in mind i only have 2 acrylic stands.

I see. Thank you for your help and I appreciate it! :D

2. Personally, to clean them I just use my glasses cleaner. Even a shirt should do well enough.
3. If they have an excessive amount of fingerprints use a small amount of windex. Put the windex on a cloth and then wipe, don't put windex directly on stand.
4. Not sure about sunlight tbh. I've had amiko and lilko (amiami mascots) stands facing the sun for years and there's no visible fading or anything.
Most of my collection is goods of Chino from GochiUsa (and every figure of her), so I have a ton of acrylic stands. I tend to get every new one that is released at events in Japan (my friend forwards them for me).

plasticizer2ヶ月前#80326321Here are my 2-cents as a connoisseur of materials:
1. Don't use alcohol or any strong solvent cleaners on acrylic or they'll attack the polymer bonds and cause them to crack and shit
2. Non-abrasive mild soap with microfiber cloth is the best way to clean the surface
3. Acrylic has strong UV resistance, but the color on printed parts may be susceptible to fading if left in direct sunlight for an extended period of time
4. Keep away from places that are above 100ºF(37ºC) or the plastic will degrade
5. If you want to get super serious/live in a dry place, consider getting anti-static cleaning spray made specifically for acrylic. These things will make the acrylic less static-y, meaning they won't attract as much dust.

This is a very detailed answer! Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it :D

Chloe-tsundere2ヶ月前#80326260Mine is in direct sunlight and so far no fading over the months I had it.
Didn't need to clean it yet but id use a makeup brush :) and blow most off before I use it.

That's good to hear!! Ah a makeup brush does seem smaller and perfect for acrylic stands haha! Thank you for your advice! I really appreciate it :D

sarious2ヶ月前#80326773Makeup brushes don't work too well on acrylic. It tends to attract the dust that's built up in brush and make it more dusty. They're the best things to use for figures though ofc.
