I'm not sure if it's a tragedy, there are many people who can't afford to buy the original product, and even a serious collector could have a "valid" reason to buy a bootleg, for spare parts or to make a custom figure, since they couldn't/wouldn't buy the original in the first place, I see no tragedy there.
In my case the only bootleg I would buy would be Sader (CLUB #1087) to display it along with the original XD

I meant business strategy, the idea of their customer service is that they are nice and act personal with you. I never mentioned anything about them selling bootlegs, that's not even part of the subject here so don't involve it in here <_____>"

Ruttsu7年前#1779598Maybe they stole the idea from someone else like they do with the bootlegs they sell.

    It's a business tragedy.

I had the same from them; they asked me what my favorite series was and what I prefer when buying things (ori, gathering, etc). They've also found me replacement parts for broken pieces that I've owned for over a year so they're pretty awesome - despite their reputation around these forums, I've come to have a special place in my heart for e2046.

I've had them ask me that before. They also went into what series I like and what I'd really like to have off of my wishlist and why I haven't bought it.

It's kindness, but it's also marketing... but I love how they do it. We just had a casual conversation.

e2046 does this kind of market research quite regularly and they are very warm when talking to customers. I guess it depends on a store policy - Japanese shops tend to be as neutral as possible from my experience and avoid sending messages mostly to avoid spambox issues, I guess.

However, I got a couple of little compliment gifts from the sellers at Rakuten.

Hehe, I ordered quite some GK-equipment from E2046 about a year ago and got about the same message a few weeks later. :P

It's indeed market research, but the fact that it looks more nice, makes it easier for a lot of people to reply (I think). It's better than "please fill in our servey" with the questions: "Are you a modeller?" "How long have you been modelling".

About your point with kindnes to costumers, yes I think it works. When I sell items myself, I also sometimes ask a few questions to the buyer or have a bit of off-topic conversation, it makes the selling less stiff/formal and it can only brighten someone's day or is a way to make a new friend. :) I did have a lot of times that the buyer didn't reply to those questions and just wanted the required stuff (give adress, pay to paypal etc.) and well, that's their choice then to do it that way. But about 60-70% of the people I encountered don't mind a bit of off-topic talk.
