I've heard they're also under investigation by the UK trade administration (or something like that)

But yeah it looks like they'll most likely disapear soon

hugtower (1年前) #28559067Why on earth is this becoming a trend??bc of market fluctuations both in japan and abroad. Shipping and customs taxes etc further complicates things. And here in the age of the internets, japanese companies are very competitive.

Ooverseas companies are forced to use surface/ocean shipments to sstay profitable. And months later when the shipment reaches port, gguess what your entire shipment couldve massively depreciated not thats there was much profitability in the first place. Mix in defects and customer dissatisfaction and life is miserable! I used to work anime retail for japanese company stateside

I find it a shame because they had a wide variety of figures. However when I did order, if something was late I wouldn’t get notified. I would have to email them and ask what’s going on.

I'd been chasing them since about February for a pre-order they were originally supposed to fulfil in November, so they've been dragging this out for at least a year now. I gave up a while ago, but I really feel for the people who've lost a lot more money to them.

It's such a shame, but I just won't pre-order from UK shops anymore. I had a scare with AnimUK the other week too - they were about a month late to ship a pre-order despite it being listed as in stock on their site, and they didn't respond when I asked for an update. I did get my order, but the lack of communication was concerning. I just don't think it's worth the stress.

I could understand this better if we were in another global economic decline, but we're not are we?

I tend to agree with the concern you've brought up here. Hell, even the article's title, "5 reasons why..." is reminiscent of the unprofessional and unsubstantiated bs coming from BuzzFeed.

I feel bad for all the people who have lately been a customer to the few businesses that have gone under. Whether those instances were malicious or not, the act of pre-ordering shouldn't be taken so lightly. Especially online, buy from trusted retailers, not necessarily from those that offer you the cheapest prices.

They seem to be ditching the stock they do have by selling it on Ebay. I've seen people complaining about unfulfilled orders for months.

They're not 100% dead. They have an eBay store, and it isn't buried under an avalanche of negative feedback, so they're shipping *some* stuff out.

However, it does look likely they'll go under - I certainly wouldn't recommend preordering from them (looks like preorders are what's affected?), but any stock they've got right now, most if not all is rather overpriced and probably not worth it either.

Also wouldn't recommend using them from personal experience anyway.

And yeah, that article is a pile o' clickbait.

I've seen a few concerns about them elsewhere as well.

At this point MFC should have a "Days since the last figure shop went bankrupt & ran with your money" counter
